Research in the Deschler Group focuses on the physics of functional semiconductors to discover new and improved applications. For this we work closely with the Optoelectronics and Nanophotonics Groups at the Cavendish Laboratory.
Our research studies how material structure controls the properties and dynamics of electronic states in emerging thin-film and nanostructure semiconductors on ultrafast timescales. For this we use a range of time-resolved techniques as powerful tools, with focus on laser spectroscopy. A current interest are highly-luminescent metal-halide perovskite materials, and how these enable novel optoelectronic applications.
